On Memorial day, I write about service, sacrifice and gratitude.
I respect those who live in service to others. I appreciate all who have sacrificed for their community and country.
No one who joins the U.S. forces does so selfishly. Their action has nothing to do with what’s in it for them, and everything to do with what’s in it for others.
I do not personally know what it means to serve in our forces, but I am grateful that I benefit from it every day.
I am especially grateful for those that fought for true equality. For men, women, those who don’t identify with either, LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, young, old. Those that fought and died for the freedom of everyone, Thank you.
Today is not about cookouts and parades. It is about gratitude for those that made the ultimate sacrifice of their lives for our freedom.
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness”.
